Mud, Sweat and tears....

Woke up to the steady drip drip of rain coming down the chimney and coming to rest in the bedroom fireplace grate..
This did not bode well for the long awaited (dreaded ) event that was taking place in a matter of a few hours..

Leaving the house two hours later to take the short stroll into town we were even more aware of the soggy state outside and the unforgiving north easterly wind...

As we went on our journey we soon encountered scantily clad men and women all heading in the same direction... My goosebumps coming out in sympathy at all the mottled pink legs on display.

Arriving at our destination.. a sea of heads greeted us.. and many more scantily clad bodies..

My beloved kissed me goodbye and took off yet more clothes to join the masses in readiness for the start...

And they're off... Bath Half Marathon 2008 had begun to rapturous applause and cheers..

Now all I had to do was find a nice warm refuge for the next two hours before I returned to greet my beloved as he staggered over the finishing line..

and he did... joyful, triumphant and just a little bit achey ... My HERO !!

Now please can you give up these masochistic mad pursuits... my nerves can't take it anymore!

Hi Michele, Looking at the first picture I was thinking you were going to a flea market....but it was even better LOL. My husband is a runner too. He did the Roparun last year. A benefit run between Paris (PA) and Rotterdam (RO), it's goal is to raise money for terminal cancerpatient to fullfill last wishes. Of course even my wonderful husband cannot run all the way between Paris and Rotterdam, they run at times with teammates. Every member runs about 65 kilometers. Pffff writing about it even makes me tired, but I'm not a sports person at all. Left alone Ritter Sport a delicious chocolate, but I guess that doesn't count really.
Hope the DH is very pleased with this post! Have a nice week, LiLi

Michele, your posts are so funny, they always bring a smile to my face. I love the build up to the finale of this one. First scantily clad men and women, then more scantily clad bodies, then your husband taking off his clothes, I was starting to wonder what sort of event you were being a party to, and in Bath of all places! Oh yes, your beloved was entering into the marathon today, wasn't he, and he did really well by all accounts. What a terrible day it has been today, rain the whole day and brass monkeys, I did wonder what it was like in Bath? I must say your beloved doesn't look like he has run all those miles, he must be very fit. Not so good for you though, two hours in that tea shop, cakes with every cup! x

Well done to hubby! I notice that my daughter Cecily (who lives in Bath too and runs every day) managed not to get involved in a half marathon, lazy girl.
You must be really proud of him.
Chat soon, Liz

Well done Mr C&C!
Michele, I hope you found a nice warm spot with hot drinks and buns.

Thanks for visiting my blog the other day. Your Tuscan hill inspired me to show pics of where I would really like to be now.

Well done to your hubby, Michele!
Was he one of the lucky ones to be awarded a medal? The organisers received a bit of a slating on the local news, didn't they?!
Talk to you soon,

Yay Beloved! Its awesome that he ran a marathon. I have respect for people who can do that because I sure as heck can't. Sounds like your drizzly day was saying hello to our drizzly day. Or maybe you sent yours over here to us? I hope you celebrated his run by buying him a great big dinner. :)

Hugs!
