Reasons to be cheerful....

The last few days my mind has been in slide-show mode.... more pictures than words.. so please forgive my rather silent blog of late..
I think also the mind- numbing tax return has frazzled a few brain cells (all remaining!) so I am fairly monosyllabic and am just managing a few grunts ... Hopefully normal service will be resumed soon.

I did however have three good reasons to be cheerful today..

1. My new National Trust Catalogue and Guide arrived.. so I am off for some armchair travel this evening.

2. The first signs of Spring were evident today.. when I discovered that my hyacinth bulbs potted up in November are beginning to show signs of life.. I brought one indoors to force it on and save it from being completely waterlogged outside...

3. My old friends the frogs are back !!!! I spotted three of the little darlings hopping around our garden this morning.. surely it is a little too early for them to be thinking of spawning... I suppose Valentine's Day is not too far off so they are just getting amorous a little earlier this year!

I hope to be back ... bright eyed and bushy tailed... very soon. XX

How fab to have frogs in your garden, hope we discover some. Its birds all the way at the mo. I sort of empathise on the tax return front. I didn't have to file one myself but Woody did his on New Year's Eve (wow the glamourous we lead!) so I felt the pain by proxy. Not fun, well done on grappling with it.
Take it easy.

Frogs in the garden, don't let my moggies hear you. It won't be long before they're bringing them in for me to play with! From the kitchen window I can see my hyacinths coming up, it is so exciting and such an optimistic sign!

I think everyone is feeling that way lately. Blogland has been slow with everyone starting the new year and some of us fighting a battle against winter blues. I'm glad you found things to be happy about. I always cling to happy thoughts during the winter months. I am excited about your frogs too. Frogs are so fun to listen to at night. I'm sending growing thoughts to your hyacinth. :)

Love,
Michelle

Hi Michele, as the Ian Dury song goes, reasons to be cheerful, one, two, three! What a great year ahead, visiting lovely NT places, smelling the lovely aroma of hyacinth, and frogwatching around the garden (the latter I am sure Pickles will be doing too)? x

I bought a Hyacinth the other day and its flowering with its gorgeous scent through the whole house - who needs those horrible airfreshners when nature can do it better! Certainly cheers me up!

Hi Michele, Much sympathy for the frazzled brain, my VAT return has been tackled this week (yuk, but at least it's finished now). The frogs aren't due here for another week or two, but I'll let you know when they arrive ~ it is so quiet here usually that their song keeps us awake at night!
Chat soon, Liz

I love your blog..I am an American cowgirl, who finally lived her dream: to live in the U.K., work in a charity, hunt for hedgies at night, become enamoured with Wood Pidgeons and English Robins..and to delight in National Trust cottages with my hubbie, the other BadgerBoy. Our fave at the mo, is Chirk Cottage in Wales and the Engineers Cottage in the Souter lighthouse...the second allows pets..your Hyacinth is lovely-endometriosis is not. Did you know you can have the whole of it fixed lapascopically? Devon is God's country! All the best to you-
