Stars in her eyes....

Goodmorning Good Folk
Well.. what a morning already!
Having gone to the cupboard like old mother Hubbard and found it bare first thing this morning... I had no choice but to venture out to kill a fatted calf.. (or carton of Covent Garden Soup) to bring home for my ailing child and myself! Beloved not due home till silly time tonight having to take his 420 children to a carol concert. Not all his.. I hasten to add!
Now considering I have not set foot in the metropolis for a week I was a little anxious and wary of going out into the tidal wave of frenzied shoppers so, I reckoned that if I got to Waitrose at 8.30.a.m , a 10 minute walk from home, I could avoid the crowds.. do a supermarket grab and be home to administer clementines and love to my child a.s.a.p!
Well.. it was a little nervewracking.. I can tell you.. just negotiating the hill into town.. I felt very light headed and even a bit agoraphobic having not been outside properly for some time.
I kept my head down and headed on to Waitrose.. en route espieing some lovely decorated windows and kicking myself for not bringing my camera for a photo opportunity! Incidentally.. have you ever tried kicking yourself? Not easy without falling over!
Soon arrived at bright lights of Waitrose and grabbed basket to do battle with other early shoppers.. it was at this moment that I was overcome with the worst tickly cough which results in me going blind and demented with simultaneous coughing and sneezing! Still.. it cleared the shoppers who gave me a wide berth.. and I continued with streaming eyes in determined fashion. As I did a wobbly swerve into the fruit and veg section.. who should I come eye to eye with (well not exactly.. he is 6' something and I am 5'6" so it was more eye to chest)..... NICHOLAS CAGE no less!!!!

My immediate thought was ' pinch cheeks..hold tummy in, look healthy girl' as here was my moment with the rather gorgeous Mr Cage!
If I hadn't looked like the wreck of the Hesperus and Mr Cage hadn't had a very pretty lass and child in tow, oh and I wasn't already spoken for.. all these minor details.. who knows what could have happened! LOVE amongst the brassicas!
Well seeing this rather gorgeous man certainly perked me up but it also threw me off course and I completely forgot about the rest of my shopping list.. so came home with strange selection of food which will never make a meal.. icing sugar, humous, and a bottle of Benylin.

P.s Thanks so so much for ALL your friendly comments of late.. I read them all and love them all..
I will try and get the Christmas Giveaway posted on blog v soon.. otherwise it will be an Easter Giveaway !

Mr Cage was at your Waitrose??? Oh my goodness me... (Have you seen City of Angels?) if not, see it.. it's wonderfully mushy and tearjerky but will probably make your nose run even more :-)
...

Anyway.. I digress - I was once in Waitrose and one of the blokes from Hale and Pace were in there. His credit card got stopped and he threw a terrible hissy fit, shrieking 'Don't you know WHO I AM?' I bet Mr Cage wouldn't behave in that way. I must move to your town. Immediately.

Hi Michelle
Gosh that was a quick response.. I have only just posted this!
Yes.. Mr Cage in my Waitrose.. he has just bought a fabulous house a few miles from Bath. We are a bit spoilt for stars here as we get a lot of celebs coming to town.. Johnny Depp is another fan of Bath!
Haven't seen him in Waitrose.. live in hope.

What an eventful shopping trip. How lucky you are to have waitrose at the bottom of the hill. I can imagine that hill, I have walked down it once or twice. I went to a party once around the corner from you in the top floor flat with a lovely view across bath. Are you feeling any better today?

What a shame he wasn't in town last weekend. He could have popped accross the road to the crypt and bought himself a lovely Nonnie cushion or Christmas decoration! I know how you feel with those coughing fits. I seem to keep getting them on the tube which is not a good place for them. Benylin definitely helps though. Not so sure about the icing sugar and humous combo though!

Oh,wow - Nicholas Cage. I'm sure I would have come home with something really strange from the grocery.
I am glad you are feeling some better and hope your son is feeling better soon. The younger ones always seem to bounce back faster.
Blessings,
Robin

I've just ventured out for the first time in a week this morning and it is scary isn't it? Having said that there was nobody looking remotely like Mr Cage to brighten up the proceedings! We ran out of food totally last night and things got a bit imaginative in the kitchen!!! Hope you feel better soon

I've got that tickling cough now and My youngest is in a dance show tonight and I'm dreading having a huge coughing attack in the middle of it. It use to happen all the time in school assemblies.

Oh my goodness Michele - you certainly shop at the right places!

But I'm just imagining a Benylin & humous sandwich topped with icing sugar....

Michele, Nicolas Cage, I thought you were talking about bumping in to a 'looky likey' not the real thing, I can't believe that, you didn't see Kevin Costner following behind with the trolley did you! x

No Louise.. he was the real thing.. down to the lovely American drawl voice..
He has an apartment in town and a fab Folly house outside of Bath.. guess he had the same idea about shopping early...

WOW! At first I thought you had walked into one of those life-sized cardboard displays showing his photo! lol The real thing! I might add, he is rather handsome! He has a movie due out in the U.S. on the 21st of Dec. Perhaps he's taking a little time off across the pond before his big time on the red carpet for his movie premier! We have our share of celebs here on the Cape, but I've never seen one in person of the caliber of Mr. Cage! =)

"down to the lovely American drawl voice.."

LOL! I just spotted this comment of yours! Everyone here loves the sound of a British accent, and even as kids, we'd try to mimic it all the time when playing "princesses"! lol

GOOD GOSH ALMIGHTY DERN...you actually SAW, in person, Mr. N. Cage? Both my arms, legs and all my hair would have fallen off, right then and there.....

Johnny Depp... a fan of Bath? Oh now i really WILL have to come and pitch up my tent in town. I wonder if he'll consider dressing up as the gypsy in Chocolat and play the guitar. Oh dear.. I really do need to lay down now and collect my thoughts. :-D

Oo lucky you Michelle - Nicholas Cage is one of those men who seem to get better looking as they get older - a bit like a good bottle of wine. And so much better in City of Angels than in Face Off!

Hi Michelle, just found this post of yours, wow, I had to go away for five minutes to regain my composure! Did you follow him around to see what he was buying?
Oh you are so lucky!
