Mutterings ....

O.K .... I have been writing my blog throughout the day but only in my mind which is fatal. I think of all the things I wanted to say and now I am faced with a blank canvas.. I have forgotten everything I intended to write about.. oh my memory is getting worse by the day.
So today's contribution is a little bit of this and that and a lot of not very much in particular!
I did my usual trek to the local P.O today and noticed that there were several doors in our street adorned with Christmas wreaths of varying sizes and a variety of materials.. This alone would have made a nice feature to blog.. the different coloured doors and their decorations.. but though I do not go far these days without my trusty camera.. I could not pluck up the courage to take a snap of each door as I passed. I feared I would be branded a member of the local Paparazzi if spotted taking shots of people's homes.. as far as I know we do not have the likes of Nicholas Cage in our humble crescent but who knows?
I did live two doors from Tears for Fears drummer once! I was tempted to put a plaque on our house wall (there are many of these in Bath of famous folk who have dwelled here at some time) 'Michele lives here.. she's not famous but her cat is!'
After doing a second trip to the P.O an hour or so later.. my nose detected the smell of snow.. well.. one can dream. It was certainly cold enough today and the clouds rolled in this afternoon so by my calculations... rain + cold air = snow.. doesn't it?
Or is it just cold rain ?
I did warn you that I was rambling a bit today.. not only on foot but my mind has gone A.W.O.L too!
I took some more photos in town today to brighten up this bleak midwinter day..

One of the many well dressed windows in Bath..

Need I explain ..?

These violets looked too good to be true.. beautiful colour!

One for the door...

My little indulgence for the day.. my favourite flowers.. Ranunculus... from the Buttercup family and anemones. Perfect combination. Constance Spry would be proud of me.. now that's showing my age!

Hi Michele - I love to see your photos taken around Bath - it has become a game and I try to test myself as to whether I know where each shot was taken! (Do I recognise Rossiters window?! And the flower sellers near to 'Lush'?! No need to mention CK!)

A Christmas wreath is the only bit of seasonal decorating I have done so far - I'm so behind!! But I want to wait until the girls come home from Uni first....

Spot on Niki... you know your Bath very well!
I'll see if I can catch you out next time.
There is book published of landmarks around the city and if the reader can identify all the landmarks then there is a prize. It is very difficult to complete as some of the photos are just fragments of a building.
Good fun though!

Lovely pictures Michele. I bet you didn't see the Tears for Fears drummer in concert (although you may have seen him hanging out his underpants)! In the early eighties they were one of my fave bands, I went to the Brighton Dome with my mate to see them, oh no you've got me reminiscing again, they were the days before I knew J, when I was young, free and single and dressed in very naff clothes! It must be very tempting for you to have all these lovely shops on your doorstep, I would be spending a fortune if I had them so close to hand. I have inherited violets in the garden, I do love them but they do self seed everywhere and I have some artificial ranunculus, lovely but nowhere near as lovely as your real ones, they are gorgeous. x

Hello Michele, I quite liked being a 'Kristina' it made me feel beautiful and exotic, never mind, I'm back to Lynn humph! ah well !
I love your photographs....can you just imagine if you were taking a picture of a door wreath and someone famous opened it, ha, it happened to me in New York I opened the door to Barneys store and Johnny Depp, was just stood there looking at me! at me! SMILING!....I lost my cool tripped over, dribbled, and muttered some drivel that had come into my love stricken brain, he was so nice but I had clearly lost my chance....'be ready' thats what I have to say, you just never know!!
I just adore those violets...love them
Hugs Lynn xx

Try not to worry about the odd brain cells going amiss, it's all part and parcel .......unfortunatly....
I have started to write things down , a thing I never thought i would ever have to do, gawd I could remeber my friends 10 digit phone numbers, once off, when I was a teenager, it takes me all my time to remeber my pin for my bank card, honestly you've no idea how embarresing it is standing in Markies with a que as long as hte isle, and there's me standing , smiling like a loon, trying to remeber 3 or is it 4 digits...
At least you had a ovely day rambleing around your local shops, good idea that takinga camera out, just never know what or who we might meet....
lovely pictures of your day....Kath
P.S My sister has a nickname for me...hhuummphh it's DORY !!you know the little fish out of that movie about the other little fish, oh I've forgotten now, you know the famous cartoon one , yellow stripes and all that, anyway, I call her Planet Janet, her name is Christine, so she does not take to this nickname very well,it's because she is always on another planet...
oh I'm rambeing on a bit now....so bye for the noo...kath x

I do love those berry wreaths, might have to treat myself to one of them tomorrow at the Farmer's Market. And I really like the window with the EB pottery. Shame it didn't snow, it's like Siberia up here in North Staffs!

Ranunculus and anemones, a perfect combination. I love them together, have to snap them up if I see them at the florists. Love the violets too.
I once lived opposite a punk band but can't remember the name and next door to John Richmond, the fashion designer, back when he was not famous and our rented flats were very cheap and very shabby but not in the Cath Kidston sense!

I just came across your blog today (or rather should say had time to take a peek) from the blog, "Home is Where the Heart Is." She had so many comments about your blog, I finally took a look on a break from work, and as always, I'm glad I did.

I love this posting. I often feel the same way myself in that I think about what I'll blog all day, and then blank when I finally get started. I especially loved the bits about the wreaths on the doors in Bath. My husband and I visited there in April and stayed at the Abbey next to the waterfall downtown. (We actually started in a dumpy B&B and spent the first night looking for a new hotel!) I even have a picture of the park next to our hotel on my wall here at work. You can imagine how I enjoyed picturing the circle all decorated for Christmas.

I look forward to finding more minutes to browse through the rest of your blog. Have a wonderful weekend. :)

Michelle

P.S. There is an awesome chinese noodle house down by the train station you should try if you haven't yet. I have not found chinese food to compare anywhere else in the world.

Anemones - my favourites! Just quickly browsed through your recent posts, but the flowers made me stop!

Hope you'll come to Dairy House in 2008. Always interested in oak furniture, so who knows what deal might be struck!
