Greetings one and all...
I trust that you all had a wonderful Christmas and that most of you managed to dodge the battery of bugs that were spreading themselves about .. and for those of you who succumbed to the variety of viruses on offer this year .. my utmost sympathy!
I am still cultivating a bark and a voice not dissimilar to Marianne Faithful when she sang Broken English.. and it has nothing to do with a life of debauchery or 20 Woodbine's a day.. just the remnants of my flu bug .. which .. thanks to the tender care of Nurse Florence .. had mostly disappeared just before the festive day!
I have .. however been left with a bad case of lethargy and chronic... sludginess.. which is the only way I can describe this leaden feeling I wake with each day.. finding it hard to lift my hand to the chocolate box or Christmas cake that is still going strong!
I am longing for some normality, a routine.. a different rhythm to this current one..of flopping around and consuming far too much in the sugar department..
SO it is with this in mind that I am going to start my detox and general self improvement plan just as soon as this next bout of merry making has passed..
This will involve abstaining from all things pleasurable.. this includes.. chocolate, biscuits, cakes, sweets of any shape or size... bread.. accompanied by a lot of putting one foot in front of the other ..i.e Exercise!
This is just one of my growing list of New Year Resolutions... that I seem to remember is the same as last year's and the one before and the one before that!
If I had received a gift of willpower for Christmas then there would be little problem in keeping these good intentions.. so I am relying on my weak willpower and the constant reminder when I look in the mirror that I look like Hattie Jacques to spur me on to my goal this coming year.
I sincerely hope that you realise your dreams and goals and aspirations for 2009 and you all find peace of mind and happiness in abundance for this year to come..
and on that note.. I would like to wish you all a VERY HAPPY NEW YEAR!!!!

now if someone could cultivate will power and sell it ... wow they would be rich. Am doing the same and looking over old lists of resolutions and they too are the same old ones. My mum always says that if you want to change something (usually in relation to the girls behaviour) then pick just one thing and work on that and when all is improved then go onto another thing. Try as i might i always have long lists of aims. I think maybe i shall just take one at a time to focus on this year and see how it goes.
A very Happy New Year to you Michele.
with love xxx
Have a nice New Year's Eve with your family (and friends?), I don't know what you are up to, but I do hope it will be a swell night! I have similar resolutions, though I couldn't find Hatty Jacques (?). In which series do I have to look? That side is fun though, thanks! My resolution is not to eat chocolate for a month and neither a lump of cheese. And not to create new addictions in Januari. Mmm I suppose that will do the trick for me for starters, if I manage to reach my goal of course, we'll speak each other by Februari 1st about that.
Thanks for being a great blogfriend in 2008, my intention is to make 2009 even a better year! See you then!
me too, no sweets, choc biscuits etc. lots of Jenny walking and dust of the bike...
lots of excess blubber to lose, it has been there for many a year so quite a task ahead but I am determined!!!!!!
Jan
Happy New Year to you. Glad your lurgy has more or less gone and you had an enjoyable Christmas. I'm sitting here with a large box of tissues next to me as I am yet again suffering with the bug. Seem to have had a cold on and off since the beginning of November and am thoroughly sick of it! Need to get it beaten by Wedding Day which is coming ever closer! So I will be joining you in the de-tox and will generally be stuffing myself full of healthy food, drink and vitamins in the coming weeks. In fact, I'm even giving up alcohol as of midnight tonigt! Although I will allow myself a days grace on Wedding Day! Hope you have a lovely New Years Evening and love and best wishes to you and your family for 2009.x
Good to hear you are on the road to recovery. I too have to do something about the excess weight I seem to have gained. No cholcolates, cakes and lots of long walks ahead for me. Good luck with the challenge and a Happy New year x
Happy new yr!x
I know how you feel about looking in the mirror and seeing Hattie Jacques!! but wasn't she marvellous and womanly despite the heavier figure. I'm not trying to talk you round probably trying to convince myself! I'm definately going to get more excercise but I love my food too much...perhaps I'll make it more wholesome. Thanks for all your wonderful commentaries....Happy New Year! Lucyxx
Happy New Year and you might consider joining our Work Out Wednesday Group. Or WOW as I call it. It keeps you honest. There is a link in my sidebar. Our leader, Adventure Girl Wanna Be, is relentless. She commands respect with her nudges.
No energy even to gather a morsel of chocolate? That is bad!
Happy New Year Michele - glad to hear you are feeling a bit better. Hope the new year brings you good things!

Now when you find that willpower will you be selling it in your Etsy shop or do I have to reserve some in advance? A kg of your finest willpower is just what I need right now. Best of luck with all your good intentions, but do we really want a world without custard creams my friend?
Mxxx
Hugs, kisses and oodles of good wishes to you all for 2009

Hi Michele
I hope for your sake your cough and lethargy doesn't last as long as mine did earlier in the year. Had to smile at your good intentions. They sound just like mine.
Happy New Year to you and your boys.

Yep my resolutions are the same as yours, and I remember making them last year, and the years before.....but I seriously need to lose weight, I've never been so heavy so can't keep putting it off. Sending will-power your way....
Happy New Year to you and yours and looking forward to lots more blogging in 2009!
Happy New year to you and yours! I am sure you will get a grip on the will power and be super svelte by the time spring arrives.
Try and keep nurse Florence off the Sanatogen tonight, who knows what trouble she could cause if she gets squiffy!
Love and hugs

Hi - I felt just like you and I reckon it will last a while longer. Tuesday was the first day I got into the car with hubby at about 10am and didnt feel exhausted. I am still sleeping like a log for about 9 hours at night. I am glad I have been able to have a break from work for a few days to get me back on my feet. The only good thing with the loss of appetite has been the shedding of 1 whole stone which is good for the new diabetes and cholesterol problem. Got weighed this am and just cos my appetite has improved over the last two days I have gained 2 pounds. I guess its going to be a long battle ahead!
I'm sure you'll feel back to normal soon. Or, if you're like me, let's hope for better than normal!
All the best for 2009!
Happy New year to you and matron too- glad you are starting to get on the path to recovery! It certainly does knock you for six, this lurgy lark!
Am not liking your new years resolution purely from a business point of view. If everyone had your (angelic) intentions then who would buy the carrot and coconut cake with lime icing that I made today? who? who?
Think on, Missy!
xxxx
I feel exactly the same! no energy after the flu but still hoovering up the leftovers.
Hmmm- just looked at the Vintage and Handmade fair site and it's only 147 days away. My new years resolution was to make something every day!
I find exercise works best by accident - like our one hour walk where we got lost and ended up back at the car 4 an a half hours later!! Not easy to fit into a routine though.... Good luck with it all - you're probably just needing a moment to take stock as you haven't stopped in months!!! I think a pamper weekend would do the trick and well deserved it would be too!! Happy New Year lovely! t.xx
Hi Michele, thanks for the Christmas and New Year wishes, all the best to you too for 2009. Yes, I know that sludgy feeling well, and I know the culprits - but mainly no willpower. Ah well, let's see what happens this year!
